HINDRINGHAM travelled to play local rivals and Senior Cup finalists Sheringham in a game which they could not afford to lose. Manager Oliver recalled Coslett in for the injured Parsley, an injury he picked up in training.

On a very bumpy and uneven surface, Hindringham struggled to get the ball down and play the football which has seen them get out of trouble in recent weeks near the foot of the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination Premier Division.

Sheringham tried to play the long ball over the top and pressure the Hindringham back three, but the whole team stood firm.

Hindringham started to get back into the game and created the odd half-chance. Clipston nearly scored with a header after great work from Betts and Chilvers sending over a free-kick.

Manager Oliver had stern words at half-time, and told his players to get the ball down and play into each other's feet. They did, and probably should have won the match.

Hindringham hit Sheringham on the break, and with Betts and West coming into the game chances were being created.

But when the telling ball was needed Hindringham could not supply. Too often when in good positions the ball was not put into the box for Betts and West.

Hindringham battled really well against opponents who have already beaten Ridegons League sides Dereham and Gorleston.

Coslett, East and Belton worked tirelessly and with the wing backs of Chilvers and Clipston defending well, Sheringham could not find a way through.

Oliver said: “We did not play as well as we have of late, but with one game to go I feel that we have a great chance of getting out of this.

“If you had said to me three months ago it would go down to the last game, I would have bitten your hand off. Whatever the outcome I am as proud as I have ever been of my players, who have risen to the challenge I set them over the past few months.”

Next, Lowestoft Reserves away, 3pm, meet Bistro 12.15.
