THIS was a moral-boosting win for a Fakenham side bottom of Eastern Counties One who had only one other win from a dozen league games before this match.

A frosty Saturday morning led to expectations that it would be impossible for rugbyt o be played. It seemed unlikely that 18 men from Fakenham RUFC would get a game.

Fortunately Thetford's pitch was deemed ok to play, and both teams warmed up looking ready to win the match.

With a first try from Glossop within the first 20 minutes, Fakenham were more than ready for victory.

Four more tries, one being an interception on the last play of the match, came from Allen, Maclaren, and Strong. Two conversions were successful and one penalty was conceded from fly-half Baldock.

Even though Thetford's attacking and defending plays made it difficult, Fakenham still broke through to show who was the better side on that day.

A well-deserved win from Fakenham was accomplished from older, experienced players in the club and the youth players showing their potential. Every man on Fakenham's side was delighted to see his efforts py off.
