CRICKET: Fakenham lost their grip on the Carter Cup in their first attempt to defend the trophy they won so excitingly last season.
They looked tired from Saturday’s Norfolk Alliance efforts as EAPL outfit Swardeston won by 104 runs at Highfield Lawn on Sunday.
Fakenham were invited to field first and Swardeston totalled 271 for seven from their 60 overs, Joe Pipkin claiming three for 37, Sean Cooper two for 52 as Joel Abraham reached 97, Ian Tufts 54 and Ed Hopkins 40no.
Fakenham’s reply came to an end in the 49th over with their score on 167, Keegan Monahan-Fairlee top scoring with 36.
