The Gallow indoor bowls club at Fakenham is celebrating a super double, and more success could follow.

The A team claimed the Gladedale Homes Norfolk County Indoor Bowling Association title after a gap of 30 years, and Mervyn King and Jamie Chestney added to their international and national honours by winning the all-England pairs competition at Nottingham. They beat Michael Bowley and Simon Skelton (Nottingham) 19-7.

And in the Norfolk ladies county fours, Anne Leverett, Beverly Marsters, Suzanne King, and Josie Wright beat Diss to go into the final against Browston at Norfolk Bowling Club.

King is in Swansea today to start the defence of his WIBC world indoor singles title. And he has a chance of winning the world mixed pairs title with his wife Suzanne.

Premier Division leaders going into the final round of fixtures at the weekend, Gallow A travelled to Norfolk BC A needing five points from the match to ensure the title. They took the match by 15 shots (84-69, 5-2 on points).

The last time Gallow won this championship was in 1978.

The team played extremely well this season using a mixture of young and experienced players.

The Gallow Friendly team completed a very enjoyable season by beating Norman Centre by one shot, the first time anyone could remember beating them.

Captain Phillip Edge presented a cheque for £477.75 to Chris Donaldson, area co-ordinator of the Air Ambulance Service.

The Friendly team has now raised £1,600 in four years for this charity.

John and Margaret Hendry, assisted by David Edge, have been running the raffles.
