Crown Fire Central and South Norfolk League

Thetford Athletic are the league champions. On Saturday, Saham Toney completed their fixtures with a convincing 7-3 home win over Mulbarton Wanderers to ensure that they finished as runners up and that Mulbarton cannot finish higher than third.

The result also means that Thetford finish one point ahead of Saham Toney to add the league championship to the three divisional championships they have achieved since joining the league four seasons ago.

In the other two matches, Shipdham beat Toftwood Rangers by the odd goal of three to make certain of fourth spot, while Gressenhall completed their League fixtures with a win over Hingham Athletic by the only goal of the game.

Attleborough Town A continue to lead Division Two with their fixtures complete but now by the narrowest of margins. In a very one-sided match between second-placed Dickleburgh and third-placed Cockers, Dickleburgh proved too strong for their visitors and ran out easy 6-0 winners. Dickleburgh now need just two points from their remaining two matches to make certain of the divisional championship. For their part, Cockers can now finish no higher than third which means that Attleborough are at least certain of the runners-up medals.

Watton United A and Tacolneston drew 2-2 to keep their outside hopes of a promotion place alive as did Swaffham Town A with a 3-3 draw at Bunwell. In the other match, Wymondham Town A beat bottom team, Yaxham Reserves 3-0.

The Division Three leaders, West End, dropped another three valuable points in a heavy 5-1 defeat at Swanton Morley and second-placed Thetford Rovers Reserves closed the gap at the top to just one point by beating Great Cressingham 4-1 at home. Third-placed, Shropham United, ran up the highest score of the day in an 8-0 victory at Gressenhall Reserves and Sporle moved up to fourth place as a result of a 4-2 win at Wendling. Bradenham Wanderers Reserves are up to fifth after winning 2-0 at Shipdham Reserves.

Division Four champions, Hethersett Athletic, ran out 6-0 winners at Colkirk. The destination of the runners-up medals will go to the last match of the season. Castle Acre Swifts move up to second place as a result of their 4-1 home win over Breckland Wanderers while Northwold SSC beat Splitz United 6-3.

This means that Northwold will need to beat Hethersett next Saturday to pip Castle Acre to the runners-up spot. In the other match, Thurton and Ashby completed their fixtures with a 5-1 win at bottom team Shropham United Reserves.
