CRICKET: The first of this year’s Dr Fisher Cup matches at Fakenham’s Highfield Lawn on Friday saw a Fakenham team beat a West Norfolk XI.

Fakenham made 174 for five off their 20 overs, Keegan Monahan-Fairlee top-scoring with 66.

West Norfolk, with father and son Chris and Frankie Sutton batting together, looked set for victory, but the innings faded to 164 for six after Frankie went for 64.

The match was sponsored by Grocott and Murfit Property Developers.

Tomorrow night (Friday) sees Sandringham play Creake. The match, sponsored by Neil Brodie Electrical Contractor, starts at 6pm.

June 3 sees Bircham against Mattishall (sponsored by M D Williamson Carpets), and on June 10, Hillington meet Bradenham (match sponsor Corders Budgens Local).
