Evergreens clinched the Martin and Acock Norfolk Hockey League Premier Division title when they produced a nap hand against a youthful Magpies team.

Evergreens became the section champions in their best-ever season. They still have a game in hand, but with nearest rivals North Walsham finishing their campaign, Greens cannot be caught. The final league game of the season is on March 29 at Gresham's against Briston, starting at 10.15am.

Following the previous week's disappointing 0-0 draw, the team stormed back to goal-scoring and winning ways in a fine team performance.

Greens started quickly and immediately put the visitors under pressure, only to be denied by the goalkeeper. Several chances were created, with Magpies settling for counter-attacks which were thwarted by the solid Evergreens' defence.

The deadlock was finally broken as Greens took a well-deserved lead when McCarthy slotted home. Two further goals were soon added as half-time approached, with Jamieson-Neal and McCarthy adding to the score-line to make it 3-0.

In the second half Magpies again had to settle for counter-attacks, which opened the game up. McCarthy completed her hat-trick and midfielder Hirst scored her fourth goal of the season. Greens conceded a succession of short corners, but managed to keep a clean sheet.
