The Great Britain team featured 17 girls in the squad, with Saskia starting games against Serbia and Israel, and playing several innings against Croatia and Belgium, all of which GB won. She was on the losing side against a strong Czech team.

Two remaining games against Romania and the hosts Austria were cancelled due to rain.

Saskia, aged 16, hopes to remain in the under-19 squad for the next European Champion-

ships, to be held in

2012.

She is a product of the softball initiative at Fakenham High School, which was started by sports teacher Mark House.

The school has now produced national players at under-13, under-16 and under-19 levels.
