Fakennham bowls star Jamie Chestney learnt on Tuesday that his once-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia for the World Cup has been cancelled.
The World Cup will now get under way at Warilla in New South Wales tomorrow (Thursday) without any competitors from the United Kingdom. “I was half expecting it, but it's still extremely disappointing,” said Chestney, pictured, a 23-year-old electrician.
Chestney, his three England colleagues, and the teams from Scotland, Ireland and Wales should have flown out of Heathrow on Sunday, and were re-booked provisionally for a flight on Tuesday - but that, too, failed to get off the ground.
