Point-to-point racing makes its solitary annual appearance in Norfolk on Sunday when Fakenham stages the West Norfolk Foxhounds fixture.

There will be six steeplechase races, starting at 2pm, and the jumping action is preceded by two children’s pony races. A total of 68 horses have been entered for the chases, starting with seven in the opening Members Race.

The highlights of the card are the two Open races, which have both attracted 13 entries. The Men’s version could come down to a battle between two good recent winners – the Newmarket-trained The Rodeo Clown and Carapuce, who won at this meeting last year and is a raider from the Midlands.

The Ladies’ Open could see the Wymondham-trained Defying Gravity, who chased home the classy Earth Dream in a hunter chase at this venue on Easter Monday, bid to score his fourth success of the season. But he is set to face stiff opposition, in particular from the Alan Hill-trained pair of Balladeer and What’s Up Doc and from last month’s Marks Tey winner, Kells Castle.

Admission will be charged at 10 per head with under 17s admitted free.
