Fakenham Rugby Club defy the elements to claim victory

Broadland-GY II 0, Fakenham 25
This game was played in rain and wind which affected the way both teams played their rugby.
Fakenham controlled the first half with the wind behind them and they pinned Broadlands in their own half. Tries from Colm Hunt, Joe Bane-Young and Josh Gee helped Fakenham to a 15-point advantage and a conversion from Bane-Young stretched the lead to 17 points at half-time.
Playing into the wind Fakenham realised they would have to work hard and keep the ball in hand as the wind was difficult to kick against. Fakenham managed to score one more try when Gee burrowed over from close range on the left wing.
A penalty from Bane-Young sealed the victory.
Fakenham will host Lakenham Hewett for a top of the table clash this Saturday (2.30pm).
Fakenham II 7 Lowestoft III 17
Fakenham scored first in this Merit League Division Three clash with Colin Hunt scoring his second try for the club this season.
The try was converted by Justin Green. Lowestoft rallied and scored an unconverted try 10 minutes later to make it 7-5.
On 30 minutes Lowestoft capitalised on a mistake scoring another try which was converted to move the score to 7-12. Eight minutes later Lowestoft created another try to leave the score at half-time at 7-17.
The second half saw plenty of opportunities for Fakenham and they had two tries disallowed as the referee could not clearly see the grounding of the ball.
