Fakenham 19, Wymondham II 12

Fakenham won this Norfolk Merit League Division One fixture but not without a battling performance from the Wymondham team.

Winger Gee crossed the line under the posts in the 25th minute, leaving an easy conversion for Tom Bane-Young. Eight minutes later, Suswain touched down under pressure from the Wymondham defence. Bane-Young kicked the goal from wide out near the touchline to make it 14-0.

Wymondham scored under the posts and added a conversion, but Bob Sayers drove from a breakdown to score a try, making it 19-7 at half-time.

Wymondham scored an unconverted try in the second half but Fakenham held on to win.

Fakenham are away to North Walsham on Saturday, while the second team are at home to North Walsham III (both 3pm).
