Fakenham's “Team Haller” were again out in force at the Norfolk Arena, king's Lynn on Saturday night in the TSR Bangers with team captain Charlie Haller in action with son Sean together with Chris Woods (all Fakenham) and Mark French (Dereham).

It proved to be another great day for the young guns of the team with Sean Haller and French being especially impressive.

Justin Warren (Littleport) was in good form in his heat and soon took the lead, but he was tracked down by the impressive French - and when mechanical problems sidelined Warren, French took charge and won the race by a comfortable margin.

Charlie Haller also made it through to the final in the same heat with a sixth place finish.

Sean Haller had to wait until the consolation to make it into the final. Justin Warren was again impressive and this time it was Haller who was his major contender, but Sean ran out of laps to catch the flying Cambridgeshire ace.

Come the final it was again Warren who hit the front early. Coming through from the back of the grid, French and Haller were soon getting into their stride and at the halfway stage Mark had made his way up to second and was being tracked by Sean.

A couple of laps later the faster moving Sean moved into second and set about trying to catch Warren.

It did look as of the chase would be futile as JWarren was enjoying the best meeting of his career and the gap between the two was a near a quarter of a lap.

With two laps to go though Warren slightly clipped a spinning car which allowed Sean to close right up.

The teenage Fakenham star tried a last-bend manouvere to move Warren off line and the two came out of the final turn with Warren a half car lead over Sean, which he just held on the sprint to the line.

Sean then though came out in a very hectic All Comers race and rounded off his best ever meeting in his short career by taking yet another runners-up spot - this time to Sam Gowler (Wisbech).

It looked like this was going to be one that Sean would take the chequered flag in as he stated to reel in the white top, but the race was stopped prematurely with three to run when three cars rolled over simultaneously.

It was a fantastic meeting for Team Haller though and with it being the final Gold Roof qualifier at King's Lynn, with just one round to go at Skegness, three members of Team Haller are guaranteed being on the grid for the big one.

Nearly 200 drivers have tried to qualify for the race and only the top 20 are guaranteed a spot on the starting grid.

Sean is in fourth place in the points series with Mark French sitting pretty in seventh and father Charlie in eighth. Charlie has a 25-point buffer over the driver in 21st place and even if Team Haller do not venture to Skegness for the final qualifier it would be a big shock if he was to drop out of the top 20.

Also in action in the TSR Bangers at the weekend were Darren Watkins and Jason Shreeves (Fakenham), but despite some good drives neither managed to make it to the final.

Saturday night sees BriSCA F1 Stock Car action in a World Championship semi-final race and 2 Litre Saloon Stock Cars while Sunday is an all-Banger affair with TSR Banger team racing, Lady TSR Bangers and under 1500cc full-contact Bangers.
