Fakenham Town manager Andy Cunningham will be looking to add to his options after his side slid to back-to-back heavy defeats in the Premier Division of the Thurlow Nunn League.

The Ghosts suffered an 8-0 defeat at Histon on Saturday and were beaten 6-2 on home turf by Gorleston on Tuesday night.

Fakenham were behind after just two minutes, courtesy of Ross Gilfedder, and Stewart Larter’s side added a second through Joel Watts seconds later, making it 2-0 to the Greens after just three minutes.

Gilfedder’s second of the night came after 23 minutes and a bad night at the office for Fakenham got worse when he secured his hat-trick five minutes later to make it 4-0.

Five minutes before half-time Jack Richardson pulled one back for the Ghosts to make it 1-4 but Joel Watts restored the visitors’ four-goal cushion just seconds later from the penalty spot.

Kyle Plumb’s 51st minute penalty was saved by Scott Foreman before Ricky Claxton made it 5-2 on the hour mark.

Gilfedder added the Greens’ sixth of the night with 16 minutes remaining, on a night to forget for Fakenham.

On Saturday Matt Hayden plundered a hat-trick for Histon whilst Max York, Evan Key, Lee Smith, James Carman and Shaun Jenkins were also on the scoresheet on a painful afterwood for the visitors.

Godmanchester Rovers travel to Norfolk to take on Cunningham’s side this weekend and the Ghosts boss admits his side are trapped in a vicious circle at the moment.

“When your luck is out, your luck is out,” he said.

“The boys are really lacking in confidence at the moment and we need to address that. When you are used to losing it is easy for heads to drop and we have got to get out of that habit.

“We will look to strengthen, I think we need to add some experience and some character into the squad.

“We need those options and we need players that will give the boys already here a lift to raise their game.

“Going into to the Godmanchester game we have just got to look to compete, we know it is going to be tough; they are a very good side who are going well.

“We can’t afford to make it easy for them though, you can’t give sides anything in this league or you will get punished, as we did on Saturday and again on Tuesday.

“We can turn this around, there were signs of that in the second half against Gorleston but the damage had already been done. The longer you stay in games and compete, the better chance you have got of getting something from it and that is what it is all about at the moment.”
