Fakenham Town are finally up and running for 2015 - and now they have the chance to end the first month of the year on a high.

Wayne Anderson’s men head to Felixstowe & Walton United on Saturday with the target of building on a victory over FC Clacton five days ago. It’s the battle of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division’s sides in fourth and eighth so the Ghosts know they will face a tough task, particularly as they lost 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter against them at Clipbush Park. But Anderson is encouraged by the way his players managed the task in returning to action with their 1-0 win against Clacton – their first match for a month.

He said: “Now we go into Saturday away to Felixstowe, which will be a difficult match as they are a good footballing side who like to get the ball down and play. They are in a good position so it is up to us to make sure we are at it and having not conceded against Clacton, we have got to be very tight again.”

Only one goal separated Fakenham from third-bottom Clacton, Ashley Jarvis’ 30th-minute penalty, but even though the Ghosts weren’t at their best there was a big gulf between the teams.

The hosts had Kyle Plumb in the starting line-up again following his foot and ankle problems while Robbie Harris made his return from the bench after recovering from his broken hand.

Midfielder Matty Franks missed out because he was suffering with a cold, but he should be fit for the trip to Felixstowe.

The reserves are in Anglian Combination Division Three action at home to Loddon United Reserves this Saturday (2pm). They were 3-1 winners at South Walsham on Saturday with Shane Akers, Ricky Claxton and Luke Gray scoring.
