Robbie Harris and Neil Jarvis have been backed to bring a positive finish to Fakenham Town’s season, writes Gareth Davis.

The pair are in joint caretaker charge of the Ghosts until the end of 2014/15 following the departure of previous boss Wayne Anderson to a role with Dereham Town.

They kick off their duties with Fakenham on a five-game losing streak in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division but they will be hoping to end that sequence at home to Whitton United on Saturday (3pm).

And they have the full support of management at Clipbush Park as they embark on the final seven matches of the club’s first campaign back in the top flight for a decade.

Director of football Geoff Saunders said: “While we were sorry to have lost Wayne Anderson, we are absolutely delighted that Robbie and Neil have taken over until the end of the season.

“Robbie and Neil both bring a huge amount of knowledge and experience to the role, both at Fakenham Town and elsewhere, and that is going to be invaluable over the next few weeks.”

The Anderson era came to a losing end last Saturday when the Ghosts went down 4-1 at third-bottom FC Clacton.

Sam Garner was on target with his fourth goal of the season but by that point Fakenham were already 2-0 down – while stand-in goalkeeper Alex Walpole had saved an early home penalty.

Walpole, usually a full-back or midfielder, was pressed into action between the sticks with regular number one Tommy Rix suspended and reserve stopper Will Dunger unavailable.

The Ghosts now find themselves 13th in the table with 38 points from their 31 games ahead of their clash with Whitton.

Saturday’s encounter is followed 48 hours later with an Easter Monday visit to leaders Norwich United (3pm).

Fakenham’s reserves go to Freethorpe on Saturday (2.30pm) in Division Three of the Anglian Combination – seven days after picking up a 2-2 draw at table-toppers Swaffham Town Reserves.
