BRADENHAM Bears U17 cricket team powered their way into the Junior Carter Cup final with an emphatic win over their Fakenham counterparts on The Green on Sunday.

Fakenham skipper Dunger asked Bradenham to bat on a damp track. Both sides were really fired up for this match and Fakenham were hoping to add the junior trophy to the senior one.

Lewis Denmark and Affleck were immediately into their stride with Denmark particularly severe on anything pitched short. They put on 44 before the spin of Ash Jarvis accounted for Affleck, who was stumped by Seed.

Evans came in at No 3 but an immediate mix-up between him and Denmark saw him stranded mid-wicket and run out for nought. With Wilton bowled by Ash Jarvis, the score was 52-3.

Brett Stolworthy, after a cautious start, with Denmark began to play shots all round the ground. The Fakenham bowlers were finding it difficult to bowl to them. Having put on 132 runs together, Denmark was first to go having just made another superb century and was out, caught for a magnificent 101 which included 13 fours and one six.

Stolworthy took over the dominant role before he was bowled by Arron Jarvis for a great 72, which included five fours and four sixes. Bradenham finished on a good total of 213-7 off their allotted 42 overs.

Fakenham openers Bird and Blackiston, were banking on better pitch conditions and were looking relatively comfortable against the pace of Stolworthy and the swing of Cantwell.

However, the introduction of change bowler, Adcock paid dividends, Bird caught in his first over. The dangerous Dunger was soon accounted for by Adcock, who had him caught for nought. This was an important wicket for Bradenham who really had their tails up.

Dewing was also bowling a really tight spell which put added pressure on the Fakenham batsmen, and Blackiston soon went, caught off Cantwell for 10. Riseborough went without adding to the score and Fakenham were in some trouble on 32-4.

Ash Jarvis set about steadying the innings but the run rate was increasing. Ash Jarvis was finally out caught off Bates for a good 34 and, whilst the tail wagged a little with Lo making 16 and Bird 13 not out, Fakenham were well short, all out for 140.

For the Bears, Adcock returned 4-24 off his seven overs and Bates 3-25, backed by a good fielding performance in an exceptional team performance.

The final will be against Horsford and will be played on Sunday, September 5 at Manor Park. All supporters will be most welcome.
