Gallow ladies chase all-England title

PLAYING at County Arts IBC in the Unbadged Ladies National Pairs zone final, Gallow's Pam Frary and Louise Hannant won 20-17 against Browston IBC and now play in the All-England Ladies finals in Nottingham.

Gallow Ladies A look certain to gain promotion to the Norfolk Ladies Premier League after a convincing home win against Yarmouth Reds. They won on all rinks, 8-0 on points.

Results: L Ward, V Groom, M Emment won 18-11; A Leverett, B Williamson, J Wright won 19-13; J Rix, M Pointer, V Howe won 25-6; B Judd, B Kiddle, P Jarvis won 17-11.

In the Gallow domestic leagues, David Frost's team lead the evening league Division One, followed closely by the teams of Trevor Savory and Richard Mason. In the second division, Peter Rix's team are in top position with an 11-point lead over Ian Routh's and George Lincoln's teams. The third division leader is Don Bridge's team followed by Ray Longman and Felicity Williamson.

The Weekend League has been won by Nicky High's team followed by Derek Collerson's.

In the afternoon league, Guy Wright leads Division One. The second division is very close with George Lincoln's team on 24 points, Nancy Brain on 22 and David Utting's on 20. Bill Corbishley's team leads Division Three.

A group of eight juniors qualified for phase two of the Norfolk stage of the English Bowls Youth Development Scheme tournament held over the weekend at the Norfolk Bowling Club.

In spite of some good individual results, they were not sufficient to see qualification for the regional stage.
