Despite defeat at Diss at the weekend, the Ghosts can take confidence from their performance at Brewers Green Lane where the final score somewhat flattered the Tangerines, writes John Cushion.
Fakenham produced a confident, structured performance which only lacked a finishing touch. All three goals came from lapses of concentration at vital times.

Diss had a good chance to take the lead in the 32nd minute but Danny Jones was high with his shot from eight yards after Steve Wright headed down a Catchpole cross.

Diss took the lead in the 43rd minute when Wright crossed from the right for Catchpole to head across goal and Andy Moody turned the ball in from three yards with the Fakenham defence hesitating in the vital period just before half-time.
Fakenham replied immediately with a well struck shot from 25 yards out by Karl Pask flying only just high.
Diss had the early attacking in the second half, bringing the best out of keeper Daniel Stockdale with Jason Cole being forced to clear a deflected Andy Moody shot off the line.
But just as the Ghosts looked to be getting back in the game Diss made it 2-0 in the 59th minute. A poor kick by Stockdale allowed Diss to set up a move with Danny Partridge moving onto a fine through ball to shoot in from 15 yards.
The Tangerines went further ahead in the 65th minute following a patient move down their left wing sparked when a keeper's throw out to Nick Haynes put the Fakenham man in trouble, unable to gain control under immediate pressure. Luke Catchpole moved into the penalty area and crossed low for Ben Soanes to shoot in from seven yards.
Generally, Fakenham looked a composed, confident outfit, working hard for each other.
The club were boosted by a 2-1 win for the reserve side at Sprowston Wanderers and a 6-0 win for the A side at Breckland Wanderers.
