New Hindringham managers Darren Gill and Toby Hood picked up a 3-2 win in their first game in charge at home to Watton.

Hindringham, who had Clipstone, Broughton and Dunger all back from injury, moved six points clear of the bottom two in Anglian Combination Division One as a result.

The first 15 minutes was fairly even with neither side creating many chances. The deadlock was broken when Asa Sanders curled in a 25 yard free-kick that went in off the underside of the bar. Watton came back at Hindringham, playing some nice football, and caused problems in the final third.

However the Hindringham defence kept them at bay and just before the break they doubled their lead when Broughton crossed for Darren West who finished from six yards.

The second half started slowly with both teams having chances but failing to capitalise.

With 20 minutes to go Dunger pulled off a magnificent double save to keep the score line at 2-0. However he couldn’t do much about James Beaumont’s header from close range five minutes from time. Watton pushed for an equaliser but when Hindringham broke from a Watton corner they thought they had secured all three points when West held off his man to get his second of the game.

From the resulting kick-off Watton then cut the deficit back to one with Beaumont again on target but Hindringham managed to hang on for the remainder of stoppage time to pick up a vital three points.

Hindringham host UEA at The Elms on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.

In the Premier Division Bradenham Wanderers lost ground on the pacesetters as they went down to the only goal at Long Stratton who had Sam Page to thank for their three points.

Bradenham remain fourth in the table, but have played more games than any other side in the division (19) and need to get back to winning ways to consolidate their position.

They have home advantage against seventh placed Hellesdon on Saturday.

Leaders Harleston Town were without a game so it fell to the chasing pack to try and make up some ground.

Norwich CEYMS had a 2-1 home win over Stalham and are now just two points adrift having played the saem number of games while Mulbarton beat Caister 3-1.
