BRISTON travelled to Taverham to play Reepham for the local derby in this Martin and Acock Premier Division game.

For the second time this season Briston were missing key players, so went into this competitive game with 11 players and no subs, praying for no injuries.

Reepham had the best of the first quarter, totally out-played Briston and went one up following a penalty corner routine.

This was what Briston needed to wake them up and start playing, as they had at Sprowston the previous week. Within minutes of the Reepham goal Briston were awarded a penalty corner, which resulted in a goal, following a powerful shot from the top of the D by Tracy Toyn.

Following team talks at half-time both teams came out fighting with extra strength and commitment.

Briston went 2-1 up shortly after the whistle, following a superb strike from an awkward angle by Becky Amies.

Reepham then worked their way back into the Briston D to earn another penalty corner which was again put away well.

Briston came back again when Michaela Bone passed the ball to Gail Rudd, who pushed it to Becky Amies. She excellently put the ball into the Reepham net to claim her second of the match.

Late on in the game Briston had a hit out, but the umpire felt that they delayed too long in taking it, so gave a free hit to Reepham. They passed the ball into the D to score the equaliser.

Heart-breaking for Briston, but it may be a lesson learned for the future. This was a very good game played in a very competitive manner.

Briston player of the match: Becky Amies.
