Fakenham Town continue a run of four consecutive home games with the visit on Saturday of high-flying Great Yarmouth Town in the Ridgeons First Division (3pm).

The Bloaters went second from a 1-1 home draw with third-placed Brantham at the weekend while Fakenham had their home match with Halstead abandoned following an injury to a visiting defender. They are two points adrift at the bottom after starting the season with six successive league defeats.

The Ghosts' game with Halstead was ended after the visitors' Erden Artun broke his arm badly, falling awkwardly from a tackle after 22 minutes. With an ambulance taking over an hour to arrive despite four 999 calls and two to the doctors' surgery, and no one daring to move the player ahead of expert attention, the referee called off play.

Halstead were upset that the game was not continued. At Cornard, in their match with Swaffham, play continued after a 67-minute delay for a paramedic and ambulance following an injury. The league management committee have ruled that the Fakenham-Hlstead game must be replayed.

At Clipbush Park, the Ghosts trailed to a spectacular own goal. Nick Tagg tried to return a poor goal kick to Sean Cooper, only to fire the ball past a stranded keeper. Cooper, the ex-Gorleston keeper and manager, and skipper of Fakenham's EAPL cricket team, agreed to help out as Fakenham suffered a goalkeeping crisis.

Fakenham Reserves got their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw at Hempnall Reserves in Anglian Combination Division Three.

Quiz nights return to Fakenham Town FC's Clipbush Park clubhouse tomorrow (Friday) night, 7.30pm start, 5 per table.
