Joe Jo Star cruised to the Fakenham Silver Cup feature on Friday.

Richard Fahey's 4/5 favourite proved the class act on the card under Irish pilot Brian Hughes to land the 13,500 contest.

Hughes tucked the stylish seven-year-old away on the rails before cantering to the front two out with Thorney-based handler Pam Sly's Bedizen (9/2) claiming the minor spoils.

“It was pretty easy in the end,” said Hughes. “He is a nice horse and this is his third winner for Richard Fahey. He is a cut above the rest here and the connections and the trainer have got their reward. He had won at Mussleburgh and a seller at Ludlow and improved every race since Richard got him.

“The ground was a little bit dead for him - he likes good ground - but he just needed that win to get his confidence again because I felt he was little unlucky the other day at Mussleburgh. He slipped jumping the second last when I was full of running and I think he deserves a chance in better races because he is an improving horse.”

Jason Maguire landed a double when Valley Ride (4/11 fav) followed up Keyneema's (10/1) success in the opener.

Maguire enjoyed an armchair ride aboard Keyneema in the North Norfolk Radio Selling Handicap Hurdle for long distance Devon raider Liam Corcoran.

The winner was bought back in by connections for 6,400 guineas after an impressive debut for Corcoran's West Country yard.

Maguire coaxed Valley Ride to the head of affairs in the Robert Case Memorial Beginners' Steeplechase to see off a late challenge from Pairc Na Gcapall (5/1) for in-form trainer David Arbuthnot.

Steamer Dellover (9/2) powered to the William Bulwer-Long Memorial Novices' Fox Hunters under young jockey Gina Andrews. Punters latched on to the opening 12s in the ring to send Simon Andrews' charge off second favourite on his racecourse return after a two year injury absence.

Big drifter I'moncloudnine (4/1) obliged in the Tim Barclay Memorial Handicap Steelpechase. Neil Mulholland's six-year-old defied a seven pound penalty for his recent Wincanton win after Craven (15/2) appeared to idle upon hitting the front.

Evan Williams won the battle of the Welsh handlers when Nordwind (11/10 fav) claimed the finale after disputing favouritism with Bridgend-based trainer Tim Vaughan's Jardin de Vienne (13/8). The ultra consistent winner finally got his head up after a solid effort last time out in handicap company at Ludlow.
