Following the successful launch of a new Norfolk Junior Squash League earlier in 2008, organizers have expanded it for its second season starting in January.

The league has increased from three divisions to four and there are now 17 rather than 12 teams competing.

Harleston Squash Club joins teams from Diss, Fakenham, Beccles, EATSC, Bannatynes and Wymondham High School.

League secretary Bruce Bushell said: “The new Division Four will be specifically for junior squash beginners and inexperienced young players, and will hopefully guarantee that all players can participate against other teams of similar ability.”

Teams of four players plus two reserves will play fixtures against two different clubs from 1pm on the first Sunday in the month. The scoring system has been changed to American (PAR) and the season will culminate with an awards presentation.

League assistant Tony Henden said: “The league is primarily to provide additional competitive match opportunities for all Norfolk's junior squash players, bringing together juniors of similar ability in a friendly, social, team atmosphere.

“It will run alongside the junior Grand Prix series which provides individuals with tournament experience, and will also give talented players the opportunity to be considered for invitation to county training squads.”
