HINDRINGHAM were looking for a second successive victory to get away from the bottom of the Anglian Combination Premier Division, but made a fruitless long trip to Lowestoft on a minibus.

Hindringham got to the ground to find the referee had called the match off due to fog, however one other match was played at the same ground and Lowestoft and Kirkley played just down the road.

When Hindringham left the ground it seemed totally clear and both teams wanted to play. But the referee would not come out on the pitch with the Hindringham manager, who had driven for four hours to get to the match. The Hindringham contingent reckoned they could quite clearly see both goals from the halfway line.

It had been hoped that both teams would be allowed to warm up, as Hindringham had made the long journey, and then a decision made 20 minutes before kick-off.

Such trips cost a small club like Hindringham a lot of money - and they have to do it again soon.

On Saturday, Hindringham visit Acle, meet Bistro noon.

Hindringham Reserves 2, Brandon Reserves 2

THE Reserves wanted to reverse the 4-1 defeat in January. The starting line-up included Callum, Yoitis and Tim Walpole, the team without Hutch, Haynes and Greeves.

Hindringham made a nervy start but soon gained control and after 20 minutes Tony Walker delivered a well-executed corner to Brandon's far post and skipper Scott Saunders climbed above everyone else to head the ball into the net.

Brandon started to make use of an extra attacker but wasted a penalty.

Hindringham failed to take their chances in an end-to-end half.

Second half Hindringham failed to clear and Brandon crossed the ball for an unmarked player to make it 1-1.

Hindringham were reduced to 10 men when Jason West was dismissed.

With 15 minutes to go a ball was played into the Brandon box and landed on the back of Callum Norfolk to end up in the net to make it 2-1.

This was Norfolk's first goal in adult football and will give him the confidence to score more.

However, again the defence could not clear the ball and Norfolk gave away a penalty which Brandon converted.

This week the team are at home to Norwich Union, meet 1.45pm at the club.
