National bowls defeats for Gallow duo
Fakenham Gallow's Mervyn King and Jamie Chestney lost their hold on their English national indoor bowls pairs title at Nottingham.Playing Buckinghamshire's Simon Jones and John McGuinness in the semi-finals, they seemed certain to reach the final when they led 16-4 with eight ends remaining, only to lose 22-21.

There was a shock defeat for King, 21-16, against Sussex star Dave Hubbard, 21, in the final of the men's singles.
Norfolk bowlers had to settle for just one title when they won the men's inter-county team title and lifted the Liberty Trophy for the fifth time.
