SEASONSTARTS: Fakenham racer Carl Nelson (pictured) had his first outing of the season last weekend, in round one of the MRO Morello Powerbike Championship at Brands Hatch. Now riding a Honda CBR 1000, he was pleased with his performance in qualifying, and was placed sixth on a full grid of riders.
He made a good start in his first of three races, was briefly running third, but ended sixth.
There was a last-minute change to wet tyres for the next race. Nelson was up to third for the first lap, was cautious early in the race and fell back to finish sixth. He failed to make a great start to the last race, but took fifth place.
He had been hoping for a top 10 placing before the weekend and so was pleased with his results.
He thanked Jake, Janet, Spencer, Diane and Curry for their help in the run-up to the season, and MD Williamson Flooring and Furniture, James Beck Auctions. CR Engineering, Fakenham Signs and Graphics and Bruce Towers and Sons Heating Engineers.
