Five football teams found a single new sponsor when the Docking Devils donned shirts supplied by Mick Murphy of Kitchens Etc.

The club was established in 2005 by Ian Kissock and Huw Griffiths and has blossomed from one U9 team of mixed boys and girls to three teams for boys at U10, U12 and U14 and two teams for girls U12 and U15 this season, writes Peter Bird.

More impressively for a small village, some 65 youngsters are now on the playing list, supervised by seven FA qualified coaches backed up by a keen band of coaching assistants.

Murphy was abroad and not able to see the new strip of shirts, shorts and socks handed over, but Huw Griffiths said that he was a staunch supporter of the aims of the club. “He's a very generous man and a sportsman who is keen to support sport in the village,” he said.

Mick and Linda's business has been established for many years and is based in both Docking and North Creake.

The club, which gained the FA Charter Standard last year, plays in the Mid Norfolk Youth League. Last season the U15 girls were the most successful side, finishing second in their division. The other four teams all finished in the upper reaches of their respective divisions.

“We're improving all the time,” said Griffiths. “But without the support of people like Mick it would probably be impossible for so many young people to enjoy healthy outdoor sports such as football. We are very grateful to him for his help.”

Docking Devils are keen to expand even more and new young players are always welcome.
