Veteran Paul Dunger top scored with 20 after watching his fellow opener, Australian Keegan De Ridder, run himself out without facing a ball and seeing his skipper, South African Michael Smith, lbw for just five. Sean Cooper (12), Ben smart (12) and Ian Slegg (11 not out) were the only others to creep into double figures.

Cooper and Slegg claimed a wicket each, and there was a run-out, as Godmanchester reached 83 to claim 25 points to Fakenham's one.

Now Smith must re-group his side for Saturday's visit to championship defenders Swardeston, whose five-wicket win over Norwich at Ingham took them 65 points clear of Vauxhall Mallards at the top.

Fakenham could still avoid the wooden spoon spot in a season where there is no relegation. Great Witch-ingham's five-wicket defeat at Bury left them just 10 points better off than Fakenham. The sides end the season at Fakenham on August 30.

Carl Rogers (48) and Shaun Arthurton (55 not out) top scored in Witchingham's 182-6. But Bury wrapped up victory in the 51st over.

Fakenham failed to reach the final of the Mid Norfolk Sunday League Challenge Cup. They made 130 in their semi-final, Swardeston replying with 131-8.

In Norfolk Alliance Division Three, Fakenham made 169-6 to Hunstanton's 106-9, taking 16 points.

In Division Five of the West Norfolk League, Fakenham B made just 50 chasing Beeston's 53 all out.

Great Witchingham knocked Fakenham out of the Pelorus Norfolk 20/20 Cup competition in last Thursday's semi-final at Manor Park.

Witchingham won by 43 runs after Fakenham were bowled out for 95 in the 18th over, chasing a target of 139 to win.

Fakenham skipper Michael Smith took 5-21, while Witchingham's Sam Dacre hit 34. But Norfolk skipper Carl Rogers proved the matchwinner, claiming 5-12 from four overs.

Great Witchingham meet Swardeston in the final on Friday, July 25.
