Fakenham Town joint managers Stuart Woodhouse and Mark King are attracting former players back to Clipbush Park ahead of the new campaign which, for the Ridgeons Division One side, kicks off on August 9.

Karl Pask, Mark Betts, Nick Tagg, Danny Tanti, Craig Knowles and Liam Campbell have all come back, and a new signing is Matthew Hooks, and 18-year-old from Litcham who played for King's Lynn Reserves last season. Striker Pask is in light training following a hernia operation, said Woodhouse.

He described Saturday's 3-0 win over Blackpool outfit Wyre FC (Ian Raisbury, Ben Darby, James Bamford) as “a good work-out.”

On Tuesday night the Ghosts entertained a King's Lynn side and were hammered 10-1 (Liam Campbell). King said it snuffed out any over confidence that might have been in the Fakenham squad. “They (Lynn) looked a decent team and we musn't get down about it. But it was a wake-up call and lessons will be learned. We really are not that bad.”

They finish their pre-season friendlies at home to Sheringham on Tuesday (ko 7.30pm).

Woodhouse and King are looking for a good points haul from the opening league games of the season, based on last season's form. The Ghosts kick off at Long Melford on August 9, entertain Cornard on the 23rd, March on the 26th and Downham on the 30th. On August 16 they visit Gorleston in the FA Cup.

Fakenham Ladies football team is looking for a kit sponsor for the coming season.

Training under manager Debbie Knight starts on Wednesday, August 6 at 7.30pm at Clipbush Park when signing on for the league and membership of FTFC will take place.

Any player or sponsor can contact Debbie on 01485 572576 or mobile 07748083788 for information.

Fakenham Reserves continue their plans for playing in Anglian Combination Division Two under the new management team of Asa Saunders and Byron Huggins.

Pre-season has been very positive and the squad is being identified while working closely with the first team.

Places will be tested in four pre-season friendlies. On Tuesday, Fakenham Reserves are away to Hindringham, 6.30pm kick-off.

The remaining friendlies are August 7 home to Dersingham 7pm, August 12 away to Barnet and August 15 home to Wells Town Reserves 7.30pm kick off.
