Fakenham failed to travel very well and within three minutes Cantabs were 3-0 up through a penalty. Fakenham missed a chance to level the score having put the opposition under a bit of good pressure.

From a good positional kick executed by Cantabs' fly half and from the following lineout Cantabs' big forwards powered over for a try (8-0).

As Cantabs had the wind and slope in the first half they continued to make good penetrating kicks, but Fakenham defended very well with good covering tackles from Allen, Day, King and Williamson. Baldock led by example with good clearing kicks relieving the pressure, but after another good positional kick by Cantabs they scored to make it 13-0 at half-time

In the second half Fakenham's game plan was to make good positional kicks as Catabs did, followed by quick passing and handling to keep the ball away from Cantabs' large forwards. To a certain extent this happened but Cantabs were able to spoil particularly from set pieces and Fakenham made mistakes under pressure.

Towards the end of the game Cantabs' forwards began to tire with Fakenham's young and light forwards looking the better. They were rewarded with a try from Warren. Baldock converted (13-7)

Fakenham must not be disappointed with this EC 1 result as since the new year the young side has been improving all the time with determination to stay in their current league, which is the main priority.

Next, Fakenham play UEA away in the Norfolk Junior Cup semi-finals, 12pm kick-off.
