THE Seasiders gave a below-par performance on a very heavy pitch on Saturday against a well-organised and spirited promotion-chasing Long Stratton who gave a performance full of authority which deserved the win.

Stratton had Wells on the back foot from the first whistle, forcing seven corners in the first 20 minutes, Wells' defence clearing the danger.

Against the run of play Wells earned a penalty when Giacomelli was adjudged to have handled, Craig East placing the spot kick out of the reach of Sizeland, giving Wells the advantage, minutes before the break. But Flint equalised, and in stoppage time Cussons put the visitors ahead.

On 55 minutes Flint scored his second and the visitors' third when he picked up a poor clearance to slot home passed a stranded Molyneux.

Wells lost Frary with a knee injury, and on the hour Flint completed his hat-trick. Fifteen-goal man Flint added Stratton's fifth in the 75th minute.

Wells Town host Holt United on Saturday 2.30pm.

Wells Reserves' match at St Andrews was called off. They travel to face South Walsham in a six-pointer 2.30pm ko.
