Downham went behind to an early Pentney strike after six minutes, but the visitors then piled on the pressure, forcing a 4-1 lead by the interval (Foulsham 2, Smith and Thorpe).
Downham changed their formation to three at the back and three up front, allowing Wells more attacking options, and a brace from Grocott reduced the arrears, with the hosts having several chances to level.
Wells Town 1, Melton St Audry's 4
ON Friday night against Melton St Audry's from the Ipswich and Suffolk Border League, the Seasiders matched their opponents up to the interval, with the score at 1-1 thanks to a strong, well-placed header by Grocott. Melton St Audry's introduced several fresh players of a higher quality to score three second-half goals.
