Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division Fakenham Town too hot for FC Clacton to handle

As part of Non-League Day, free hot drinks were on offer for all supporters to Clipbush Park on Saturday, as Fakenham Town welcomed FC Clacton in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.
But there was to be no such hospitality on the pitch, as the Seasiders were swept aside by the Ghosts’ attacking strength in a 4-0 win.
There was just one goal in the first half, and it took half-an-hour to come. When it did it was a special one, as Jimmy Williams fired home from the edge of the area.
The second half was more fruitful for the hosts, as the lead was doubled on the hour mark when Kyle Plumb forced the ball home, after Matt Gilchrist had done well to knock the ball down to him.
Then minutes Williams again found the net, volleying home his second after a superb cross into the Clacton box.
The scoring was complete with 10 minutes to go when Plumb set up Josh Youngs to head home “the easiest goal” he’s ever scored for Fakenham – the tweeted words of the young defender, with the goal opening his account for the season.
The win takes Fakenham back up into the top half of the table and continues the recent run of form that Wayne Anderson’s side have been enjoying.
They travelled to Kirkley & Pakefield in the league last night, after the paper had gone to print, and on Saturday afternoon welcome Godmanchester Rovers (3pm kick-off).
There was defeat on the road for the club’s reserve side as they went down 3-1, despite taking the lead, at Horsford United, Aaron Dougal scoring the solitary goal for the Ghosts.
There’s a rest from the Anglian Combination Division Three camp-aign on Saturday, with a trip to face Long Stratton Reserves in the first round of the Cyril Ballyn Cup (2pm).
The ladies begin their Norfolk Women’s and Girls League top-flight campaign on Sunday.
The Ghosts’ first fixture is at Kirkley (2pm).
