Hindringham eased their relegation fears in Anglian Combination Division One with a magnificent victory over leaders Stalham.
The management of Oliver and Vertigan named the same side, which defeated Holt, with new signing Cameron on the bench.
Hindringham settled quickly into their stride, got the ball down and moved Stalham’s defence about with ease. The midfield three of Saunders, West and Coslett set the tone early on, biting into challenges and not allowing Stalham time to play. This allowed space for wingers Betts and Bulley to cause problems for the Stalham back line.
Marsh up front was holding the ball up and creating space for others and he helped set up the opening goal. He laid the ball into Betts and he cut in down the right and put a lovely cross over for a Stalham defender to slice into his own net.
Hindringham continued to press and scored again soon afterwards, Saunders blasting home from close range after great work from Bulley.
Stockdale had to be at his best when he saved low down to his left after the Stalham defender broke through and throughout his handling and kicking was first class.
Stalham changed their system at half-time and pinned Hindringham back, scoring a well-worked goal.
Hindringham dug deep and battled for every ball, and continued to create chances. Belton came on for the injured West played a key role in Hindringham’s third. From his tackle in the box, Marsh held the ball up and played a great pass into Betts, who broke from inside his own half, outpaced two defenders and as the keeper came out, he chipped him from the edge of the area.
Hindringham were then in total control as they ran out comfortable winners in their best performance of the season.
n Fakenham Town Reserves were the victims of two disallowed goals as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Newton Flotman in Anglian Combination Division Four.
Kevin Clipston scored Fakenham’s goal, while striker Julian Delicata made his return to action after a long lay-off.
Saturday sees the reserves travel to Mulbarton, with Dean Betts and Martin Fenwick now in joint charge of the side after Adie Hewitt left the club during the week.
