Wells Town put the disappointment of last week’s Norfolk Junior Cup exit behind them with a solid display at Mattishall Reserves, coming away with an emphatic 5-1 win.

The Seasiders welcomed James Frary back in to the squad while there was a starting position for Ash Quantrill, who has moved to the club from Redgate.

The match started with both teams looking to play quick football. Wells keeper Aaron Watson was brought in to action early as he tipped a goalbound shot around the post before Luke Goss broke the deadlock when his curling shot found the back of the home net.

Frary fired an outstanding shot past the keeper to give Wells a two-goal cushion going in to the break.

Wells started the second half in control and an overhead kick by Matt Pooley gave the keeper no chance. With the score 3-0, a mix-up in defence let the hosts pull a goal back before Goss netted his second.

Ross Brewster added his first and the team’s fifth to kill off the contest.
