DEREHAM WANDERERS U12 GIRLS played Kirkley & Pakefield for the second week running, going down 3-1. Dereham started well with some good passing from Hannah and Anna, with the ball falling to Rochy who lobbed the ball over the keeper and into the net. Kirkley started to step up a gear and pressured Chelsea and Erren in defence, the equalising goal creeping over the line after going through Drew's legs. Minutes later Dereham conceded a second after good play down the wing. Dereham picked themselves up again with Ella's long throws causing uncertainty in the area, but they couldn't get the finishing touch. Mary came on for Rochy who was injured and did well. The second half started brightly with Anna going close and Erren making good runs down the wing. At this time the girls were getting cold and wet with the rain pouring down and Kirkley scored a third. Drew came off suffering from the cold with Chelsea happy to replace her for the last five minutes. GoM: Rochy.

DEREHAM WANDERERS BLUES U10 maintained their top spot in the league with a comfortable win over bottom of the table Thetford Bulldogs. The squad included, Billy, Byron, Jordan, Ben, Reece, Josh B, Sam, Adam and Liam. By half-time, Dereham had a comfortable lead with Sam, Josh B (2) and Ben (2) scoring to make it 5-0. For the second half, Billy, who had hardly had a shot to save, swapped positions with Liam and increased Dereham's lead by scoring two well-taken goals. Adam came on as sub late on and with his first touch smashed the ball into the net after terrific build-up play by the team. Ben rounded off a great team performance by scoring Dereham's ninth goal, completing his hat-trick. Towards the end of the game the Bulldogs finally put a little bit of pressure on Dereham's defence and scored a consolation goal. The win leaves Dereham still top of their league with just two games remaining. Final score: Dereham Wanderers Blues 9, Bulldogs 1. Manager's man of the match: Reece. Bulldogs' manager's man of the match: Ben.

FAKENHAM AMBERS U10 travelled to the Woottons for their last away league game of the season. They made a steady start on a sticky pitch and several half-chances were created at both ends. Callum played particularly well in goal, collecting the ball and impressively distributing it to his team mates. Charlie worked tirelessly up front for little reward. Late in the first period the Ambers took the lead when Reece scored with a well-taken strike from close range. In the second half the Fakenham team picked up the pace of the game and several slick passing moves between Aaron, Reece and Ben created many more chances. Josh, Tom and Rahul were able to support in attack as a result of persistent pressure placed on the Woottons. Ben struck a long corner which was well met by Jake, who volleyed home for the second goal. The final goal came following a strong run and a low driven shot to the far post by Aaron. The Ambers will be pleased with a solid performance in a 3-0 win leading up to their cup semi-final. Team: Charlie, Jake, Reece, Ben, Aaron, Josh, Tom, Rahul, Callum.

FAKENHAM GHOSTS U10 travelled to play Terrington in the quarter-finals of the Subsidiary Cup, and having lost the league game recently they started the match as underdogs. But their new-found self-belief was evident and they took the lead through Jack. A turning point came when the Ghosts' hard-working captain Daniel had to come off injured before the break. Terrington then fought their way back into the game and scored twice to take the lead to make the score 2-1 at the interval. Ben got on the scoresheet soon after the restart to square the match and it was end-to-end action all the way. Terrington again took the lead but when Daniel came back on the Ghosts upped their game and once again Ben equalised. The game was still tied 3-3 at full time. In extra time Fakenham got themselves in front again through Jack and this time they were determined to hold on to the lead. The whole team worked hard to keep the hosts out and when they did break through late on Jamie made a superb save to ensure they progressed into the semi-finals. A fantastic all-round team effort and special thanks to the guys who stepped in at the last minute, especially Brandon who wasn't at all daunted by playing against older opposition having made the move up from the U9s and his energetic performance earned him the man of the match award. Final Score 4-3 after extra time. Team: Jamie, Kai, Travis, Brandon, Ben, Jack, Daniel.

FAKENHAM GHOSTS U10 travelled to play Clenchwarton in the semi-finals of the Subsidiary Cup against a team from the top division, but having battled valiantly to reach this stage they were determined not to be outdone. From the kick-off the Ghosts got the upper hand and the midfield trio of Dan, Brandon and Jack worked tirelessly. Jack and Ben both went close but the game was still all square at the interval. Clenchwarton came out a bit more fired up in the second half but Travis, Dominic and Jamie in goal were all having solid games and it wasn't long before the Ghosts, spurred on by Callum's energy, regained the initiative and this time they got their reward when Brandon scored following a spell of constant pressure. The hosts were given a lifeline when they were awarded a debatable free-kick which was unfortunately turned into his own net by Dominic. The Ghosts pressed again and Dominic soon made amends when he crossed for Brandon to score his second goal. This time there was to be no way back for Clenchwarton and the Fakenham team gained a thoroughly deserved 2-1 victory which was earned out of sheer determination. Team: Jamie, Travis, Callum, Brandon, Daniel, Ben, Jack and Dominic, all of whom were worthy of the man-of- the-match award.
