Fakenham is experiencing a unique alliance between its football, cricket and rugby clubs to hold the inaugural FCR Beer Festival.

It will take place on Saturday at the Football Club's Clipbush Park ground 4pm until late with live music from a local band, a duo and a disco, with a barbecue to help the beer go down.

The beers will be supplied from Norfolk breweries, two of which come from less than five miles from Fakenham.

Alan Young, chairman of Fakenham Rugby Club, said: “The planning of the beer festival has gone well. All we need now is a fine Saturday to make everything complete.”

The collaboration with football club chairman Nigel Allen and cricket club vice-chairman Geoff Saunders has been very fruitful and further combined functions and activities are in the pipeline.

Tickets for the Fakenham Sports Alliance Beer Festival are available from News Klip, Fakenham (01328 862864), Alan on 07859 806130 or Nigel on 01328 863001. They are £10 (including five half-pints) and £15 for a family ticket (five drinks included.)
