KATY Manning, famous as one of Dr Who's early assistants, comes to Wells later this month to star in the hit off-Broadway comedy, Me and Jezebel.
The production by the recently formed Third Eye Theatre Company tells the hilarious story of how legendary Hollywood actress Bette Davis appeared at a fan's house one day - and stayed for a month - with Katy playing all the parts in a challenging performance.
The actress has a great fondness for East Anglia and had a cottage in Wells in the 1970s.
“I've travelled all over the world,” says Katy, “and East Anglia has got to be one of the most beautiful places. A beauty matched only by the kindness of its people, who have always had a great love of the theatre.”
Katy is probably best known as Dr Who companion Jo Grant, playing alongside many people's favourite Doctor Jon Pertwee for three years. She has since lived in Australia and the USA.
The show comes to the Granary Theatre in Wells on Saturday, March 21.
