The Mid-Norfolk Railway is hosting a special weekend to mark the 40th anniversary of the closure of the Wymondham & Dereham Railway on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway is hosting a special weekend to mark the 40th anniversary of the closure of the Wymondham & Dereham Railway on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4.

Vintage coach tours will be organised to visit the stations of the Wymondham and Dereham Railway - Dereham,Yaxham, Thuxton, Hardingham, Kimberley Park, Wymondham - including a rail journey between Wymondham and Dereham. There will be guided tours of each station along the line, including a visit to the Yaxham Light Railway.

There will be a 1960s timetable of trains running between Wymondham and Dereham using the MNR's recently-restored green class 101 diesel rail car, demonstration freight trains (subject to availability), a photographic display in Dereham station an a re-enactment of the closure of the railway using costumed actors.
