Live music, homemade rafts and a 'great duck race' will all feature in the return of  Fakenham's Riverside community day.

Hitting the Wensum on Sunday, June 18, the Active Fakenham event will also feature traders' stalls, bouncy castles and live music being played at Goggs Mill Road, in the field by the bridge.

The event starts at 10am when the rafts go on display on land, before they hit the water at 11am.

There will be a 'corporate' duck race at 12.30pm, followed by the Great Fakenham Duck Race at 1pm.

Ducks will be on sale on the day or in advance at the Fakenham Info Hub in the Original Factory Shop for £1.

The band Anto Morra will play at 1.30pm, and there will be bouncy castles with single fee for all-day access (£3 per child or £5 for two).

Richard Crook, chairman of Active Fakenham, said: “This is always a popular event. We have dozens of volunteers helping out. It’s a beautiful setting and we expect some excellent entertainment.

“We would like to thank the Osprey Canoe Club, The Fakenham and District Rotary Club and everyone who is helping out. We have had tremendous support from local businesses.”

There is no parking (except limited disabled parking) or toilets at the site but there is free parking in Olivet Way, which is about a 10-minute walk away.

Local pubs and shops have agreed to allow people to use toilets.

Proceeds will go towards future local events, and Active Fakenham is supporting Fakenham First Focus and four local schools with this event.

The event still has a couple of spaces for stalls, and needs more helpers – contact richard@activefakenham.org.uk if interested.
